Altus Loses Treasured Friend, Mentor
The Altus Schools family recently lost a valued friend and advisor. Mr. Pat Hyndman passed away March 9, 2013. Mr. Hyndman was a staunch supporter of Altus Schools’ Vision, Mission, and Values from the very beginning and was involved in guiding the schools’ senior leaders as they carved innovative ways to better serve students.
Mr. Hyndman, a San Diego business legend, was 98 years old. He lived a full life by sharing his personal gifts with developing business leaders through Vistage International and the Chamber of Commerce and by serving community organizations such as the YMCA and United Way.
Most significant for us was his interest and contributions to education. Not only did he make an impact on Altus, he was on the founding committee for the University of California at San Diego and a member of county and statewide education boards.
In memory of Pat, please consider directing donations to the Altus Institute. Donations will support the creation of the Pat Hyndman Learning Center designed to offer a high school education to San Diego students at-risk.
