Audeo History
A California Department of Education Charter Schools Dissemination Grant was awarded to the Audeo founders and provided the initial funding to establish the school. On January 1, 2001 an application for an Implementation Grant from the California Department of Education (CDE) was written, submitted, and approved for Audeo.  After months of planning, discussions with San Diego Unified School District staff, revising elements in the Audeo charter document, and attending the public hearing on April 24, 2001, on June 12, 2001, the Board of Education (Board) unanimously approved for five years the petition and charter for the Audeo Charter School. Audeo Charter School opened September 4, 2001.

Audeo Charter School was established in a visionary model for educational reform. Specifically aimed at students whose futures are at risk because conventional schooling has failed them, Audeo (Latin for "I Dare") provides a unique alternative educational environment for students whose academic and psychosocial needs are not met by traditional approaches.

The 2010-2011 school year will mark Audeo's tenth year of serving the San Diego County community.
